Postgraduate Life at iQ Student Accommodation

26th May, 2011

This week we interviewed Ben Kolosz, a Post Graduate student studying at The University of Leeds to find out what his experience of living at iQ Student Accommodation in Leeds had been like so far;

iQ: Hi Ben, thanks for taking the time to speak to us today
Ben: No problem!

iQ: So, what course are you currently studying?
Ben: I’m doing a PHD in Transport Studies

iQ: That sounds interesting, and how do you transport yourself to Uni everyday?
Ben: Haha, I walk! It’s literally just 10 minutes up the hill

iQ: That’s nice and easy for you! And how long have you been living at iQ Leeds?
Ben: About a year and a half, since September 2009.

iQ: So this is your second year here, you must like it! What room type are you living in?
Ben: I’m living in an En-suite room in the Post Grad block

iQ: And do you get on well with all your flat mates?
Ben: Yeah, it’s a really nice mix of people and has a real cosmopolitan atmosphere. Because we’re in the Postgrad block, everyone’s doing either a Masters, PHD or Teacher Training.

iQ: A bright bunch then! Do you find it easy to study at iQ?
Ben: Absolutely, there’s a large desk with plenty of room for all my equipment including a desktop computer so its got everything I need.

iQ: Is your internet connection good?
Ben: Yeah it's very good and reliable. I considered upgrading from the base package, but it's so good I didn’t feel I needed to. It's absolutely fine for everything I need.

iQ: Makes life easier doesn’t it! So what else do you like about your room?
Ben: The en suite shower! Definitely the en suite shower! Having it included in the price is fantastic.

iQ: Haha, they are popular! iQ Leeds has lots of communal facilities like the 24/7 hour laundry, the bike store and of course the social hub. Do you use these much?
Ben: Absolutely. Especially the social hub on Saturdays when we watch the football!

iQ: Have you ever had any problems living at iQ?
Ben: Nope none at all!

iQ: So do you think iQ is a good option for postgraduate students?
Ben: Definitely, it’s a very good option! It's great that we are slightly separated from the Undergrads, but not isolated from them. We still mix in the social hub and it’s the social aspect that’s one of the things I like best. Its also really good value for money having everything included.

iQ: Brilliant! Well thanks very much Ben, its been great talking to you.
Ben: No problem!
